What this is not.
Last updated: April 17, 2026.
Not therapy.
Unsend is a therapeutic-adjacent toy. It is not therapy, counselling, coaching, or mental-health treatment. It is not delivered by a licensed practitioner. It is not a substitute for professional care. If you are working with a therapist, keep working with your therapist.
Not a crisis service.
If you are in danger, in crisis, or considering harming yourself or someone else, please stop using this site and contact a real crisis line. We keep a list at /resources. In immediate danger in the US, dial 988. In the EU, dial 112. We’ll still be here after.
Not a real email service.
The “send” button is a simulation. We do not deliver email to the named recipient. We do not, under any circumstance, attempt to contact the person you wrote to. If you want to actually send an email, write it in Gmail.
AI output is not fact.
Replies generated in Closure mode and Reality mode are simulations. They do not represent what the person named in your letter would actually say or believe. Do not quote AI output as evidence of the real person’s thoughts, intentions, or words. Do not make legal, medical, financial, relational, or safety decisions based on AI output alone.
The reflection is a heuristic.
The one-sentence reflection is a pattern-matched observation from a language model. It may be wrong. It may be glib. It may miss what’s actually underneath your letter by a mile. Treat it as a prompt to keep thinking, not as a diagnosis.
No medical / legal / financial advice.
Nothing on this site constitutes medical, legal, psychological, or financial advice. If you need any of those things, please consult a licensed professional in your jurisdiction.
Use at your own risk.
By using Unsend, you acknowledge that writing unsent letters can surface difficult feelings, and that you are choosing to engage with that possibility. You are responsible for your own wellbeing while using the site. If the experience becomes too much, close the tab.
